Minecraft Tips
On this page you will learn or reread some tips for playing the game and Minecraft in general. For starters, I will start with some pretty simple tips, but they can be useful.
1. Don't dig straight down or up.
You never know what could fall on you or you fall into, so it's probably best not to dig up and straight down.
2. Always have a sword with you (for survival mode).
Having a sword on you all the time is a good idea that way if you happen to run into some monsters you won't be defenseless.
3. Listen.
Listening can be very helpful because if you hear the sound of monsters you'll know that there's some by you so you can be prepared. Also if you hear lava or water when mining, you know to be careful.
4. Always have some torches.
Torches can come in handy just about all the time, so bring some to light up your path. There also good for making trails.
5. Don't forget food!
You should always bring food with you that way you won't starve to death!
6. Build a shelter before night.
Even if it's just temporary, you should build a shelter before dark. I suggest hiding the night in a mountain or on top of a tree, that way you should be somewhat safe from monsters. Once it's morning you can then build an actual house. (or whatever you wanted to build).
Like I said, this are some pretty simple tips. Now I will say some more tips that might not be as obvious as the ones above. They still might be obvious though.
1. Place a torch under falling sand/gravel
Once you place a torch under falling sand/gravel all of it will break. This should come in handy for caves and when getting sandstone.
2. Use saplings to cook/smelt an item.
If you only have one thing to cook/smelt and have tons of saplings, then use a sapling to cook/smelt it.
3. Don't hit zombie pigmen.
When in the nether, don't hit a zombie pigman if there is a lot by that one because they will swarm around you until you kill them all.
4. Have a water bucket when mining.
You never know when you might run into some lava or a lava pool, so having a water bucket can help put out the lava pretty quickly.
5. Have Fire Resistance potion when killing blazes.
When you finally found that nether fortress you've been looking for, bring a fire resistance potion with you because it's much easier to kill them since you won't be on fire. (This won't work if you're finding blazes for the first time since you need blaze rods to make a brewing stand.)
6. Don't forget extra eye's of ender when locating the end portal.
Bring extra to put on the portal because not all of the eyes of ender will be on the portal, so bring some extra to activate it.
~Quick Tip
Here is a quick tip on how to put out lava fast or get obsidian fast. All you need is a water bucket.
First find a lava pool. Sometimes they spawn on top of the land, or you can find one while mining like in a cave. Once you find one take out your water bucket. Then place the water on the lava, wait 2 seconds, then put it back in the bucket. Now the water will spread and you don't have to worry about the water sweeping you away. It will spread and disappear.
~ Another Quick Tip
Can't seem to find that nether fortress that you've been searching for? Want to find the end portal but don't know how? Then this tip should help you.
*If you have been searching for a nether fortress and haven't been able to find one (this is for the computer edition) then press F3. Now there should be white words in the top left corner of your screen. Now try looking on north or south directions. If you can't find one, move east or west a little, and then keep walking north or south.*
*To find the end portal, you first have to find a stronghold. To do this you have to the eyes of ender, which when right clicked, will lead you in the direction of the closest stronghold. There are only three per map, so depending on how close you are, this might take awhile. It should not take to long though. To craft the eyes of ender you need ender pearls and blaze powder. They can also be traded with villagers. When released the fly through the air for a few seconds, and either shatter or drop to be collected. They leave a trail of purple particles. Once above the portal, the eye of ender will go down through the ground. Also don't forget to bring some extra eyes because not all of them are *
